by | May 17, 2024

Unlock the magical world of storytelling and illustration with Sarah E. Bash at the eagerly anticipated illustration and storytelling camp. Tailored for budding artists with a keen interest in bringing their imaginations to life on paper, the camp welcomes children and teens to dive deep into the art of narrative and drawing. Offering two distinct sessions catered to different age groups—children aged 7 to 10 from May 27 to 31, and individuals aged 11 and older from June 3 to 7—the camp runs from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm each day at Glynn Visual Arts, Saint Simons Island. Led by Sarah E. Bash, who boasts impressive credentials with both Bachelor and Master’s degrees in her field, the camp is committed to imparting a rich blend of drawing techniques and storytelling mastery.

At this camp, participants will experience a hands-on approach to learning, with activities ranging from animation basics to creating detailed storyboard sketches. They will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of mediums including markers, watercolors, colored pencils, and India ink, encouraging them to explore their creative boundaries. By engaging with these diverse materials and techniques, campers will progressively work on their storyboards, culminating in the completion of their own comic book or storybook. This project showcase provides a practical application of the week’s lessons but also serves as a platform for students to present their personal stories, guided by the mentorship of Ms. Bash and inspired by a carefully selected collection of comic books and picture books for motivation.

The goal of Sarah E. Bash’s illustration and storytelling camp is not just to teach children and teens the skills they need to illustrate and tell their stories but also to foster a sense of creativity and imagination. By breaking down the processes involved in illustrating and storytelling, the camp offers a structured yet fun learning environment. Recognizing the importance of a continuous educational experience, the camp does not accommodate drop-in attendance, ensuring that each session builds on the last to offer a comprehensive and enriching educational journey. Whether you’re a local looking for a creative outlet for your child, or someone new to the area seeking a welcoming and constructive community activity, this camp promises an unforgettable adventure in the world of art and storytelling.
